Making a bag

22/02/2019

Our aim in textiles was to make something to hold/put our work in. I used a leopard t-shirt to create my bag. After a few cutting and adjusting to make it how I wanted it to look. I then turned the shirt inside out, and cut the bottom of the shirt into strips and tied them together into a knot. I then turned it back out. This created the bottom of my bag. What I found was most challenging was trying to find a shirt to use that was a good size and material.
The material I chose was a grew shirt was black spotted leopards all over the shirt.

Making Burgers

Our roles in our group
On the 15th we made patties. The three of us all had different roles. One person in our group was in charge of getting the eggs, and washing the dishes as well as keeping the area clean. While the other person in our group chopped up the onion and cooked the patties. While my job was to get the seasonings, breadcrumbs, and mince, as well as mixing all the ingredients together.

Issues we encountered
During cooking, we went through some problems. A member of our group accidentally cut their finger while chopping the onions. This caused us to fall behind for they had to go out of the classroom to clean the cut and put a glove on. We found that our area was messy and not well organised. We ended up having trouble cooking the patties. We found that with our bad time management we did not have enough time to properly cook our patties. At lunchtime, I found when I broke off a part of the pattie that there were a few little bits of meat that was still raw.

Improvements for next time
Next time we need to work on organising different roles for one another before we start cooking. We also need to keep our area clean and organised. We also need to work on our time management. I find that we need to have more time to cook our food.

Idea's and Messages from the Movie Tarzan

Image result for tarzan

A message from the movie Tarzan that I found was that we don't respect nature this is because we tend
to do stupid things and greed. We saw this in the scene where Clayton was firing his shotgun around.
Clayton could have shot the wildlife. When they would travel they would chop down the trees in their way
as they were invading their home. We should look after nature because it is the only reason why we are
alive. It gives up oxygen, food, and water. We are not the only things living on Earth and we should respect people and animals around us. In an ideal world, people do this every day,
people chopping down trees ruining lands and killing wildlife to get resources. We should respect nature.

A message from the movie Tarzan is that we treat others that look different or what we don't understand
horribly. This is because we don't understand how they live or how they react to different situations.
We saw this in the scene where Tarzan first met Clayton. Clayton would treat and call Tarzan like a savage.
In the ideal world, this still happens but not often. Most people accept who we are and what we look like
as well as our religion and beliefs.

A message from the movie Tarzan was Family is not determined by blood. We saw this in the scene
where Kala takes in Tarzan when he was just a baby. Kala doesn't care that he is not her own but she
treats him just like she would treat her real child. This makes me think about adoption. No matter if
they are your biological parent or not you still love them no matter what. This could also happen with
friends, if they are close to you sometimes consider them like family.

Spiritual Wellbeing

For the past week, we have been learning about spiritual wellbeing.
Spiritual wellbeing is about your identity, your values, religion, self-awareness, and so on. We were learning about what we describe ourselves as or what we like. We also talked about our likes and dislikes.

A task we did

From the values you chose, write about the two that are most important to you
Fairness
Teamwork

Why is this value important to you?
I find that treating others evenly is important.
It's important to work with your group and help each other out.

Recall a moment in your life when you really ‘lived’ this value.
When I was playing softball in 2014. Our team was making sure everyone was having a turn in batting.
When in a class project. We were working together and sharing our opinions freely.

If this value is not being respected by others, how might you feel or react?
I would feel a bit upset. It’s not right to treat others as if they are more special than others.
Teamwork is important. It shows our respect for others.

Home Economics 2019

1. What we did
On the 8th of February, we cooked chicken and rice patties in the Home Ec room with Miss Taylor.

2. What we learnt
Since Miss Taylor prepared our chicken 30 minutes before our lesson we did not need to do steps 1 - 3. Since we were not familiar in our environment we learnt where to find our equipment as we went through the lesson. What parts of the spring onion to use and what parts not to. I learnt to use different boards and knives to keep the chicken and veggies separate.

3. What you would need to work on next time
Next time we need to work on our time management and make sure we have enough space and keep our cooking top clear of unnecessary equipment.

Evolution of Money - Ancient Times

Ancient Times

Before using coinage in the first millennium B.C, the Ancient Egyptian society payments were made in the form of rations of cereals, meat and fabric. The standard base salary of ten loaves of bread and one third to two full jugs of beer per day. They would trade goods such as silver rings and gold pieces shaped like sheep. Cities lived by trading with each other. Farmers brought food into the villages. Village people made things such as pots, beads and cotton cloth. Traders brought the materials workers needed and took away finished goods to trade in other villages. The advantages of trading were getting something in return. The disadvantages are when you want to trade with someone and they are not interested in what you are willing to trade with.

Top Five Human Rights

Our Top 5 Human rights
Our task was to look through human rights and pick what we think is the most important.

1)No one can take your human rights away.
2) Education
3)Everyone has the right to Freedom, thought, religion.
4)Right To Speak
5)Everyone charged with a penal offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty

Our Reasons

We chose Right no.30 ( No one can take your human rights Away) because its a general concept/ rule connecting to basically all the human rights.

We chose education as our second most important because we think basic knowledge is needed for overall needs.

We chose everyone has the right to Freedom, though, religion as our third choice because it covers everyone as an equal human being.

We chose the right to speak as our as our fourth option because everyone should be able to speak their mind/thoughts and be able to express themselves/feelings.

We chose Everyone charged with a penal offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty as our fifth option because you should not be convicted of a criminal penalty that you have not committed or taken part of.
